How to Set Up a Company Email Sender in Swivel
Sending emails from your company domain instead of a personal email improves deliverability, keeps your emails out of spam folders, and makes your communications look professional. Here's how to set it up in Swivel.
Before You Start
Section titled “Before You Start”Make sure you have:
- Access to your company’s DNS settings (through your domain host, such as GoDaddy, Cloudflare, or Namecheap).
- Permission to make DNS changes (this is often handled by an IT admin).
- The domain or subdomain you want to send emails from (e.g., acmesolutions.com).
Step 1: Add Your Company Email Sender in Swivel
Section titled “Step 1: Add Your Company Email Sender in Swivel”- Log in to Swivel and go to Settings > Communication > Email Domains.
- Click the + New button.
- Enter the company domain you want to send emails from (e.g., acmeretirement.com).
- Swivel will generate a list of CNAME DNS records.
These records allow Swivel to send emails on behalf of your domain and are required to continue.
Step 2: Add the DNS Records to Your Domain
Section titled “Step 2: Add the DNS Records to Your Domain”- Log in to your domain provider.
- Open your DNS management settings.
- Add each CNAME as shown in Swivel.
Step 3: Verify Your Domain in Swivel
Section titled “Step 3: Verify Your Domain in Swivel”- Return to Settings > Communication > Email Domains in Swivel.
- Select your domain.
- Click Verify.
Once verification is successful, your company email sender is ready to use.
In Swivel, you’ll see the option to select SendGrid when sending emails. Use this option when you want to send emails from your company domain instead of a personal email address.
Troubleshooting Tips
Section titled “Troubleshooting Tips”If verification doesn’t work right away:
- Double-check that all DNS records were entered correctly.
- Allow time for DNS propagation (up to 24 hours).
- Check for conflicting or duplicate records in your DNS provider.
- Confirm you have permission to edit DNS settings.
If issues persist, contact your IT administrator or Swivel support.
