Event Types help organize events and improve reporting across Swivel.

I don’t see the option to create a new Event Type from the Event Type drop-down.

Section titled “I don’t see the option to create a new Event Type from the Event Type drop-down.”

Only users with the Owner or Manager role can create Event Types directly from the New Event window. If you don’t see this option, contact your Swivel administrator for assistance.

Create a new Event Type when your organization regularly hosts a type of event that isn’t already represented.

For example:

  • Client Appreciation
  • Educational Seminar
  • Webinar
  • Medicare Workshop
  • Annual Review

Avoid creating multiple Event Types for the same purpose with slightly different names.

Yes. Open the Event Type to update its name or description.

Changing an Event Type updates the name anywhere it is used throughout Swivel.

Event Types are managed using the Merge feature.

If an Event Type is no longer needed, merge it into another Event Type to preserve your historical event data.

Merge Event Types when duplicate or similar Event Types exist.

For example:

  • Seminar
  • Educational Seminar
  • Seminar Event

Merging helps keep reporting accurate and reduces duplicate selections.

Yes. Event Types can have Workflow Templates assigned to them.

When an event is created using that Event Type, the associated Workflow Template can be used to help manage event logistics and follow-up activities.

Does changing an Event Type affect existing events?
