Required Setup for Swivel Account Owners

Set Up Swivel Sync

Connect your carriers and custodians to Swivel Sync so policy and account information stays up to date automatically.

Swivel Sync automatically updates policy and account information by connecting directly to supported carriers and institutions.

Once configured, Swivel Sync reduces manual data entry, improves data accuracy, and helps ensure your CRM stays current as policies and accounts change.

Before setting up Swivel Sync, we recommend reviewing and standardizing your carriers, institutions, and products. Clean, consistent data improves matching accuracy and helps prevent duplicate or incorrect records.

While setting up Swivel Sync is a one-time implementation task, monitoring your connections is an ongoing administrative responsibility to ensure your data continues syncing successfully.

By the end of this article, you will be able to:

  • Connect your carriers and institutions to Swivel Sync.
  • Verify your connections are syncing successfully.
  • Understand your responsibilities for maintaining healthy Sync connections.
  • Know where to monitor Sync activity and troubleshoot issues.

Step 1: Connect Your Carriers & Institutions

Section titled “Step 1: Connect Your Carriers & Institutions”

Swivel Sync can only update information from carriers and institutions that have been connected. Each connection authorizes Swivel to retrieve policy and account values on your organization’s behalf.

For each carrier or institution:

  • Add a new Sync Source.
  • Enter your login credentials.
  • Complete any required multi-factor authentication.
  • Save the connection.

Repeat these steps for each carrier or institution you want Swivel Sync to monitor.

  • Get Started with Swivel Sync
  • Add a Sync Source
  • Supported Carriers & Institutions (if applicable)

After connecting a carrier or institution, confirm that Swivel Sync is communicating successfully.

Verifying your connections early helps identify credential, authentication, or network issues before they affect your users.

Confirm that:

  • Each Sync Source shows as connected.
  • Authentication completed successfully.
  • No connection errors are present.
  • Initial Sync activity completed successfully.
  • Linking Errors
  • Device is Offline or Last Heartbeat Shows “Never”
  • Managing Sync Sources

Setting up Swivel Sync is only the first step. As an administrator, it’s important to periodically review your Sync connections to ensure policy and account data continues updating successfully.

Regular monitoring helps you identify authentication issues, connection failures, and carrier-specific problems before they affect your users.

Periodically review the Sync Dashboard for:

  • Successful Sync activity
  • Failed Sync attempts
  • Policies or accounts marked Not Found
  • Carriers requiring authentication
  • Connection or credential issues
  • Understanding Sync Statuses
  • Why Did Sync Return “Not Found”?
  • Force a Sync
  • View Syncable Policies & Accounts

  • Standardize carriers and institutions before connecting Swivel Sync.
  • Connect your most frequently used carriers first.
  • Keep carrier credentials current.
  • Complete multi-factor authentication requests promptly.
  • Review the Sync Dashboard daily.
  • Investigate recurring Sync failures.
  • Add new carriers and institutions as Swivel introduces more supported carriers.

Should I clean up my carriers before setting up Swivel Sync?

Section titled “Should I clean up my carriers before setting up Swivel Sync?”

Yes. Standardizing carriers and institutions before connecting Swivel Sync improves matching accuracy and creates more consistent reporting.

We recommend reviewing your Sync Dashboard daily to confirm your connections remain healthy and your policies and accounts continue syncing successfully.

A Not Found status means the carrier couldn’t locate a matching policy or account using the available information. Review the policy or account information, verify it’s correct, and retry the Sync if appropriate.

What happens if a carrier requires multi-factor authentication?

Section titled “What happens if a carrier requires multi-factor authentication?”

Some carriers require periodic authentication to maintain the connection. Complete the authentication request when prompted to keep Sync running.

Yes. You can connect additional carriers and institutions at any time as your business grows.

Great work! Swivel Sync is now configured to help keep your policy and account information accurate and up to date.
